All to often I see clients being held hostage by their previous design firm. At Dzine everything I produce for your company is yours to keep no matter what. Lets face it thing don't always end up perfect but the client should not be punished for a business deal gone bad. For example...
John Doe hired Graphics inc to create a website. For one reason or another the deal goes south and John would like to go with another graphics company. The problem is John thought he bought a great domain name www.johndoesbusiness.com. Unfortunately John didn't realize Graphics inc had actually purchased and registered John's domain name in their company name. So now John is out his great domain name. Some companies will even offer to sell you "your" domain name at a greatly increased cost.
I guarantee you this would never happen if John had gone with Dzine. There are hundreds of examples just like this. Some worse than others. Some graphics companies retain ownership of their created graphics. So if that deal would happen to go south the company could either charge the client for ownership of the graphics or they could remove them entirely from the site.
As an honest and reliable designer these situations are completely unacceptable. Your Domain name, Hosting company, website, and graphics are yours to keep once the 50% deposit has been issued. Any web company that intends to keep copyright or graphics rights is in my opinion a company that should be shut down.
